Performance Of Steel Structure Building — Durability
Dec 06, 2023
Durability refers to the ability of a material or structure to degrade under long-term internal or external physical or chemical action, but still meet the minimum structural performance.
General durability has two meanings, material durability and structural durability.
Material durability refers to the ability of a material to resist deterioration and wear.
Structural durability refers to the ability of structural members to maintain their suitability and safety during the designed service life under the environmental effects and maintenance and use conditions determined by the design.
The durability of steel is poor, easy to be corroded, especially in a humid environment prone to rust, which leads to the destruction and failure of steel structural parts. Therefore, protective measures must be taken to prevent steel corrosion and rust.
Measures to improve the durability of steel structure:
1. Choose Quality Materials
The material quality of steel structure has a crucial influence on its durability. It is necessary to choose the steel with reliable quality and in line with national standards, and pay attention to the testing and quality acceptance of the material composition.
2. Surface Treatment
The surface treatment of steel structure can effectively improve its durability. Generally using spraying and galvanizing, spraying can improve the weather resistance and corrosion resistance of the steel structure, and galvanizing can form a layer of zinc on the surface of the steel structure to prevent direct contact with the external environment.
3. Corrosion And Rust Prevention
Corrosion and rust prevention of steel structure is the key to its durability. Among them, rust prevention is the primary problem, to remove the surface rust in time, and take anti-rust measures. Generally using spraying, scanning or brushing methods, the use of reliable quality anti-rust coatings. In addition, the steel structure also needs regular anti-corrosion treatment, which can be treated by dipping method or film method to improve corrosion resistance.
4. Maintenance Maintenance
The steel structure is vulnerable to the impact of the environment during use, and it should be inspected and maintained regularly, and the damage and rust found should be dealt with in time to extend its service life. At the same time, the maintenance also includes the cleaning and painting of the steel structure to avoid pollution and erosion.
