Connection Method Of Steel Structure
Dec 27, 2023
Steel structure connection refers to the mutual connection between steel structure members or components. Steel structure connection commonly used weld connection, bolt connection or rivet connection.
Steel members with combined cross sections need to be joined together with their components, namely steel plates or sections. The whole steel structure needs to be assembled into a whole with connections at the joint points. Therefore, the connection design of steel structure will directly affect the quality of steel structure.
Weld Connection
It is the main connection mode of steel structure at present. Manual arc welding and automatic (or semi-automatic) submerged arc welding are the most widely used weld joint methods.
The weld connection has the following advantages:
1. No drilling required, no additional connectors required, simple structure, can save labor and material.
2. The tightness of the welded structure is good, and the stiffness and integrity are large.
Bolt connection
Bolt connection is divided into ordinary bolt connection and high strength bolt connection two categories. Ordinary bolt connections can be divided into shear connections and tensile connections according to the force, and there are also shear and tensile connections at the same time.
Due to the advantages of time-saving installation, simple installation equipment required, and higher requirements for construction workers than welders, the current application in steel structure connections is second only to weld connections.
Rivet Connection
Rivet connection is more expensive than bolt connection and more expensive than welding material, which is only used for large-span steel structures that bear larger dynamic loads.
Under normal circumstances, it is almost replaced by welding in the factory, and it is almost replaced by high-strength bolt connection in the construction site.
